What We Make
Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky
Perfection takes patience, and artistry requires purpose. It takes many years for oak trees to grow, just as it takes years for the oak cask to nurture the whisky. That's why we were the first to create casks using Mizunara, or Japanese oak -- creating that unmistakable Yamazaki taste.
For Suntory, every step of the delicate whisky-aging process is deliberate and inspired. You can see it from the selection of our oaks, to the very ingredients -- including the quality groundwater we use in our blends -- that we believe excellence is not an end product but a journey. This careful attention, day after day for every cask of whisky we age for years, gives the Yamazaki and our other whiskies their warm hues, characteristic notes and award-winning tastes.
But the process doesn't end there: we constantly seek to improve our whiskies--creating new techniques while honoring the artistry of our generations of master blenders. This harmony of old and new achieved its boldest expression with our Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013. The result according to Jim Murray's Whisky Bible was the "World Whisky of the Year" for 2015. It was the first time a Japanese whisky had received this prestigious accolade.
